NOTES; Aldus Manutius came to Venice in 1490 He commenced printing in 1493 with various Greek editions. In 1502 he produced the works of Thucidides, Sophocles, and Herodotus. When Aldo died in 1515, he had produced over twenty five editions of Greek and Latin classical works. His Herodutus is generally respected as one of his most important works. Herodotus of Halicarnassus was a Greek historian from Ionia who lived in the 5th century BC
This book has been in store for nearly 25 years.

The three parts appear to include the following numbers of leaves
Herodotus 140
Thucydides 123
Xenophon 156

The pages are discoloured throughout as would be expected. Several pages have blobs marks on them but otherwise condition seems good for the age of the book. There are annotated notes in ink in the margins in many places. The front has a bookplate with coat of arms and motto "Quantum in rebus inane" There is also an ink inscription on the title page reading Thomaf ?????
Later bindings scuffed and worn and damaged particularly at the top and bottom of the spine.

Title page with device and letter on reverse (1 leaf)
Pages numbered 1-12 (Six leaves)
Pages numbered 1-229 (115 leaves)
Finally a single blank page (1 leaf)
