Victorian 18 carat gold full hunter keyless pocket watch by J W Benson, London, hallmarked London 1873, the exterior of the case engraved with a monogram and on the reverse with a deer crest, the inscribed dial with a subsidiary seconds dial, the movement engraved J W Benson no 8685, 58-60 Ludgate Hill, London. There is also a presentation inscription to Thomas Alpheus Buck MD dated 1874 from Lady Oglander for services to her husband Sir Henry Oglander. Suspension ring missing
Historical note; Sir Henry Oglander was born in 1811 succeeded to his title as 7th Baronet in 1852 and died in the same year as the presentation inscription (1874). Buck is recorded at Guy's Hospital in London. The Oglander family owned estates on the Isle of Wight recorded back to 1200.
